  • Going Back to the Original Can be a Good Thing

I'm bringin' Xanga baaaack.......... (but check my MySpace for all blog entries)

I had been looking for a verse the other day that my mom shared with me a long time ago. I finally found it.

It's 1 Thessalonians 5:22. The NIV translates it as "Avoid every kind of evil."

But I MUCH PREFFER the KJ translation: "Abstain from all appearance of evil." It's so much more convicting. For me, anyway.

    "ALL APPEARANCE"

Wow.... I don't know about you, but it makes me think about EVERYTHING I do, with EVERYONE, and if my actions are edifying at all times....

How about you? Do you have any verses you can share with me in my walk with the LORD?

  • A Song for my Heart to Sing (My Song Blog)

I have, as I often do, been thinking. I wanted to try an eloquent yet fun way to get my ideas across. I love being cryptic, anyway.
Count all the tunes ( i think i used twenty titles)! Enjoy!

God's love has put me on top of the world, and I'm still waiting for my man to do the same for me. My funny valentine is somewhere out there, underneath the quiet nights of quiet stars. So put your records on and come fly with me, let's accentuate the positive while we're here. Really, put your new shoes on and let's burn the maps. Perhaps we'll learn how to save a life. It don't mean a thing if we don't continue our soul searching day and night. I won't ever give up, and I'll keep going in the Summertime, the gentle rain and in the Autumn leaves. God loves me, and they can't take that away from me. I can't help falling in love with His amazing grace. It can truly fly me to the moon, across the universe. At last, I can fall away from the world and into His arms. It might seem like I'm just futilely chasing cars, but really I'm going somewhere beyond the sea, beyond this world. For all we know, that could be in the next five minutes.

    Hallelujah

  • To Attain the American Dream

(to read earlier post on these sujects, visit my MySpace Blog!)

I have realized, through my Religions class, and then it hit me later in a song, that to go after and reach the American Dream would mean to reject everything Christ stands for.
Todd Agnew says it best in his song "My Jesus" from his album 'Reflections of Something'.

Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and the least of these
He loved the poor and accosted the comfortable

Where did this idea of achieving security in my life come from? Certainly not in the way Jesus teaches me to live!

If Ephesians says to imitate Christ
Then why do you look so much like the world?

If I am to imitate Christ as He calls me to, I have to lay down all of my own selfish desires and take Him seriously! What kind of attitude do I have toward living like Jesus did?

This picture of the American dream
If Jesus was here would you walk right by on the other side, or fall down and worship at His holy feet?

Most important, I believe, is that question above. What would I do if I saw an ugly, dirty, bleeding, ragged man? How would I receive Jesus if he were living today and looked as he did then? I would like to say that I would worship Him as he walked past me, but I feel like I would be ashamed to even be in the same room with Him. Not because I'm ashamed of Him, but I'm ashamed of my own shortcomings and lack of faith in Him.

Here's just a little something for you to think about as you live your American life.
Question of the Blog: What would YOU do if you met the filthy Jesus on the street?
Think about that before you answer, whether you put your response here or in your prayers.

    Have Blessed Day!
